This spring the City of Knoxville wrapped up another successful Ambassadors program!
This is the 9th class of Ambassadors since the program started in 2016 and 125 employees have been through the program.
Under the guidance of 311 Director Russ Jensen and Deputy Chief Operating Officer Chip Barry, 16 employees from a wide variety of departments completed the 4 day program.
Ambassadors are chosen from department head nominations to help employees learn more about everything involved in City government.
Staffers have to be employed for at least 6 months to participate, but as this spring’s class demonstrated even longtime employees have something to gain from the program!
One 20 year employee said, “I never knew half the things the City did until participating in this program.”
Through the City Ambassador program, employees:
• Complete City Services Boot Camp, learning about all City services and visiting 15 locations of City operations
• Learn about major City projects
• Complete 3-part Customer Service Training
• Learn about contracted partners like PBA, Visit Knoxville, ASM, and Knoxville Chamber
Thank you to everyone who nominated an employee this year and congratulations to all who participated!
The next class will be Spring 2024. So, start thinking about your next nominee!
