Market Square is located in the center of downtown Knoxville between
Wall and Union avenues and provides a spectacular venue for special events.
To reserve a special event in Market Square please call the City's Special Events office at
865-215-4248.
Market Square hosts live music series like Concerts on the Square, special events like KUUMBA Festival and HoLA Festival, community fairs, and from May through November, the Market Square Farmers' Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Market Square also features a water play fountain and is adjacent to the scenic Krutch Park.
Market Square gets its name from the Market House that once stood in the center of the square. Farmers from Knoxville’s surrounding areas would bring their wagons into the Market House to sell their wares. The southern end of the square near Union Avenue, holds the bell from the old Market House and a statue commemorating Tennessee's role in the fight for women's suffrage.
