The third year of the City of Knoxville’s Kid A’ Riffic is going down in the books as a huge success!
The Special Events team estimates nearly 2400 people took part in the 8 week series, and yes, some people were probably counted more than once.
“Many of the families are repeat families,” Brewer said. “They come to several of the Kid A’ Riffic events each year, but when you only see them in the summer, the kids grow up and change quite a bit! It just brings a smile to your face to feel like you are a part of their childhood memories.”
Nearly 2 dozen sponsors joined forces for the 2022 season. Some provided music, free ice cream, educational items and/or activity booths.
“What has become so great about this event is that partners are reaching out to us, asking if they can be a part of Kid A’ Riffic,” Brewer explained. “They see the value in serving children through the summer months and just how popular this has become. They are now coming to us to ask if they can be a part of it!”
Kid A’ Riffic started in Market Square in 2019. Now, it’s hosted in various parks across the City including some new locations this year:
• Baker Creek Preserve
• Knox Botanical Gardens
• Inskip Park and Pool
Brewer said each of the new locations added something special this year: Baker Creek had more activities skewed toward older children, the Botanical Gardens had the City’s first Touch-a-Truck event, and Inskip Park was the City’s first ever Kid A’ Riffic with a pool. “Each one had unique and fun aspects. I hope we will return to those locations again next year!”
