Directions: To get to the southern entrance of the park, go west on Cumberland Avenue past University of Tennessee's campus; after going under the overpass the park entrance will be on the right. To get to the western entrance of the park, go west on Cumberland Avenue at the Neyland Drive and Concord Street intersect; turn right onto Concord Street; park entrance will be on your right.
Residing near the University of Tennessee's campus in Downtown Knoxville, Tyson Park provides a wide array of recreational opportunities to Knoxvillians.
Third Creek Greenway, which connects to
Neyland and
Bearden Greenways, is a popular place to run, walk, bike or pass through the park.
The park boasts one of Knoxville's largest accessible playgrounds, a skatepark, a softball field, 14 tennis courts, 3 large shelters, 6 pickleball courts (on tennis courts 1-3) and accessible restrooms.
KNOXVILLE SKATEPARK
Tyson Park is also the site for Knoxville's first skatepark, which is a Tony Hawk Foundation skatepark with a plaza area, a bank pool, a flow pool, and a peanut pool. For more information, please visit the Knoxville Skatepark web site at

ADOPT A PARK
Tyson Park Adoptees are Barony of Thor's Mountain SCA Inc., Pluto Sports, Ground Control Landscapes, Kristy S. VanHornweder and Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church.
HISTORY OF THE PARK
The park is named in honor of Charles McGhee Tyson (1889-1918) who was a businessman and Naval aviator from Knoxville. Tyson was killed in action during a naval patrol in the North Seas near the end of the First World War. Knoxville's McGhee Tyson Airport is also named in honor of his courage and sacrifice for this country.
The tennis complex is named in honor of former Mayor Kyle Testerman. Kyle Testerman (1934-2015) was a lawyer, businessman, member of City Council (1969-1971), and Knoxville Mayor from 1972-1975 and 1984-1987. Testerman played tennis at the University of Tennessee and was instrumental in the development of this tennis complex in Tyson Park.
PARK RULES & REGULATIONS
1.) For the protection of our park and the safety of its users, the following are prohibited:
- No alcoholic beverages
- No open fires
- No hitting golf balls anywhere in the park
- No motorized vehicles in park
- No equestrian activity
2.) Per city ordinance, all animals must be maintained on a leash.
3.) Please be respectful of other trail users.
4.) Please help to keep our parks beautiful by disposing trash in proper receptacles.
