The Board of Directors of Ijams Nature Center exists to protect the public trust. The Board’s duties are governance, including financial and mission- related oversight and fund development.
APPOINTMENT OF BOARD MEMBERS
The Ijams Nature Center Board has up to 8 appointed members and up to 16 elected members. All Board members serve three-year staggered terms. Three appointed members represent the City of Knoxville. One city appointee is the Director of City Parks and Recreation and the Mayor appoints two additional members. Other Board members are appointed by Knox County, and various garden clubs of Knoxville. Term are limited to 2 consecutive terms, then a 1 year break.
MEETINGS SCHEDULE
The Board meets at the Ijams Visitor Center every other month on the third Wednesday at noon.
