CORRIDOR B - THIRD CREEK GREENWAY EXTENSION
Corridor Route Description
The Corridor B greenway corridor is approximately 3.60 miles in length and connects Corridor A and the existing Weisgarber Greenway to the Northwest/Victor Ashe/Pleasant Ridge Greenway. The corridor extends approximately 1.5 miles as a 10-foot wide sidepath along the north side of Middlebrook Pike to the intersection with Third Creek Road. At this point the corridor parallels Third Creek Road as a 10-foot wide sidepath for approximately 0.76 miles to the intersection with Hinton Drive. Third Creek Road is closed beyond the entrance to the KUB property and the corridor follows the abandoned Third Creek Road roadbed for approximately 0.67 miles to Western Avenue as an off-street 10-foot wide greenway trail and linear park. The greenway trail crosses Western Avenue on the pedestrian bridge proposed by TDOT and proceeds approximately 0.57 miles along Ball Camp Pike as a 10-foot wide sidepath and then through Victor Ashe Park as an off-street 10-foot wide greenway trail to the connection point with the Victor Ashe Greenway.
Limited demolition in this corridor will include curb, curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk and asphalt removal at selected locations along with some storm drainage demolition and replacement. Two box culvert extensions are planned. The typical trail cross section shall be 2” asphalt over 6” base stone. Curb ramps and greenway trail crosswalk pavement markings are provided at all street crossings. No major structural work is anticipated in this corridor while curb and gutter, storm drainage improvements and several retaining walls will be constructed.
Greenway Connectivity
Corridor B is a major corridor connector. When completed, Corridor B will link the Cedar Bluff neighborhood and the Corridor A/West Hills Neighborhood to the Pleasant Ridge Neighborhood creating approximately 16.4 miles of total connected greenway. Facilities connected along the greenway trail include several parks, schools, churches and a YMCA.
