The City of Knoxville’s Finance Department has again been recognized for its transparency in reporting by a national organization.
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City’s Finance Department due to its transparency and full disclosure in its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
The City’s Finance Department has received the award – representing the “highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting” – for 30 consecutive years.
Finance Director Jim York credits the expertise and dedication of his staff for the unbroken series of GFOA awards.
“I’m very proud of how the Finance staff has long embraced a culture of openness and responsiveness – they demonstrate that commitment every day in how they approach their jobs,” York said.
