South Knoxville residents continue to play an active role in shaping the future of their neighborhoods—collaborating with neighbors, partners, and City staff to bring forward new ideas and perspectives. As the city grows, so does the opportunity to align shared goals and form a unified voice. The South Knoxville Advisory and Advocacy Group (SWAAG) was created as a space for this collaboration, building on the momentum of the 2023 Community Open House and other recent planning efforts like the Form Based Code working group. Since its formation, the SWAAG has remained a consistent partner in shaping the South Waterfront’s future. Over the past two years, the group has helped guide the project through a series of focused meetings, roundtable discussions, and community events— ensuring that planning efforts stay rooted in local priorities. This ongoing collaboration has informed key decisions, shaped design strategies, and strengthened the connection between city-led initiatives and community-driven goals. The May 19, 2025 workshop represents the most recent and in-depth opportunity for the group to weigh in, building on the foundation of input established across the broader engagement process..
