The Housing and Neighborhood Development Department has begun the process for developing a new, five-year Consolidated Plan to assess needs and set priorities for future funding in support of housing and community development in Knoxville. The Housing and Neighborhood Development department focuses on the following areas:
Initiatives to improve housing opportunities
for lower-income homeowners, tenants,
and home buyers
Addressing homelessness in concert with numerous external community partners
Steer the redevelopment of vacant,
blighted, or challenging properties
into productive use

Administer and strategically leverage federal, state, and local grants to support the City's goals related to housing and healthy neighborhoods
Supporting accessibility across city facilities, parks, neighborhoods, and disability-related programs and policies
Current and archived reports and plans for Annual Action Plan, Cares Act, Consolidated Annual Performance & Evaluation Reports, Fair Housing, meetings and more
