The upward trend of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations is truly alarming.  The Center has been inundated with both positive cases and workplace exposures. The seriousness of this situation is real and is impacting our friends, families and colleagues.

From a community standpoint, COVID-19 hospitalizations in Knoxville are up seven-fold with those hospitalized being younger, sicker and unvaccinated. For example, at UTMC, 92% of those admitted are unvaccinated.  ICU beds are full and nonessential medical procedures are being curtailed. Bottom line, the situation is again grim and necessitates that we all do our part.

So, what can you do to help?  First and foremost, consider being vaccinated. The City is hosting 3 upcoming vaccination clinics with the Knox County Health Department and we are rolling out a new financial incentive program.  So, if you are not vaccinated this will be a great chance to knock it out! Bring your eligible family members too!

Second, all of us must follow the current COVID-19 Executive Order and other policies in place designed to keep us safe and healthy.  Following the Executive Order, just like any health and safety policy or procedure, is not a choice but a requirement designed to keep all of us safe. This includes wearing masks while indoors in most situations and following the latest CDC guidelines designed to prevent transmission of COVID-19.  If you need more information about the Executive Order, our team is here to help.

Again, let’s all be extra diligent over the coming weeks and please consider being vaccinated!
