Following an initial open house in August that focused on upgrades for part of the North Broadway Corridor, City consultants will present several concept designs to the community aimed at making Broadway more inviting and accessible to all users.

On Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, Toole Design Group will share designs for the Broadway/Hall of Fame Drive intersection and the segment of Broadway from Hall of Fame up to Cecil Avenue.

The public will hear benefits and drawbacks of each concept and be able to comment, ask questions and share their preferred designs.

The consultant is looking at all modes of transportation and ways to improve efficiency and safety. The preferred design should function well and remove barriers that divide the surrounding neighborhoods, said Jon Livengood, the City’s Alternative Transportation Engineer. 

“The existing intersection works for people who are coming from the north, but those who are approaching from the south have no options to get on Hall of Fame,” Livengood said. “It’s also extremely uncomfortable to travel by foot or bicycle.”

Comments from the public meeting will help determine which concept the consultant will develop further.
