CORRECTION (March 17, 2022, 3 p.m.): The victim is not an employee of First Horizon Bank as was initially reported. She works at an office inside of First Horizon Plaza. The victim is being treated for her injuries at an area hospital.

At around 9:50 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to the First Horizon Bank located at 800 S. Gay Street. It was reported that a woman, who is a bank employee, had been shot while driving, possibly in the area of James White Parkway and I-40 East. The victim was found suffering from minor, non-life-threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and suspect were known to one another.
Responding officers were able to obtain a description of the suspect vehicle, which was broadcast to patrol units. The suspect vehicle was located by Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies, who initiated a pursuit of the vehicle around the 9300 block of Kingston Pike. Deputies continued to pursue the suspect vehicle until the pursuit ended in the area of Oak Ridge Highway and Ball Road.

The shooting is under investigation by the KPD Violent Crimes Unit.
