Over this past week, Knoxville Police Department officers arrested 54 individuals ranging from ages 18 to 67 for drug or weapon charges. Based on a review of incident reports from September 20 through September 27, those arrests led to a total of 18 felony charges and 134 misdemeanor charges. Additionally, those arrests led to the confiscation of the following: At least 10 guns that were possessed in violation of state law; about 74 grams of presumed heroin; about 40 grams of presumed meth; roughly 300 pills; around 120 pieces of drug paraphernalia; over $6,000 is U.S. currency; and over 433 grams of marijuana.
The charges from those arrests included 10 for manufacture, sale or delivery of a controlled substance, seven for assault, three for unlawful possession of a weapon, two for convicted felon in possession of a handgun, two for possession of a stolen firearm, 36 for simple possession and 21 for outstanding warrants among a plethora of additional charges.
As part of the department’s ongoing efforts to prevent violent crime and overdose deaths, KPD officers will continue to proactively and diligently work to take dangerous and deadly narcotics and illegally-possessed firearms off of the street. The safety and well-being of the community depends on it.
