Over Past Week, Officers Arrest 58 Individuals for Drug or Weapon Charges
Over the past week, Knoxville Police Department officers continued to work hard to keep Knoxville safe and prevent violent crime. Based on reports submitted, from Monday, August 23 through Sunday, August 29, KPD patrol officers arrested at least 58 individuals in ages ranging from 14 to 56 for drug or weapon charges, resulting in a total of 25 felony charges and 152 misdemeanor charges. Officers seized seven firearms that were possessed in violation of state law, leading to four charges for unlawful possession of a weapon, three charges for convicted felon in possession of a handgun and two charges for possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. Additionally, officers confiscated nearly 70 grams of suspected heroin, 15 grams of suspected meth, over 560 grams of marijuana, approximately 300 pills, and a variety of other narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Officers obtained 13 charges for manufacture, sale or delivery of a controlled substance and seized over $4,000 from those arrests.
The opioid epidemic continues to have a devastating impact in the community, and violent crime is a natural by-product of the sale of illegal drugs. The KPD will remain persistent and diligent in its efforts to combat the sale of illegal drugs and prohibited firearm possession.
KPD officers will stay steadfast in their pursuit of those who bring deadly narcotics into the community, and we want residents to play an active role in that pursuit. Public safety and keeping Knoxville safe is a shared responsibility, so if you have information regarding individuals involved in illegal drug sales, East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. Tips can be submitted anonymously online at

, by phone at 1-800-222-TIPS or via the free mobile app, P3 Tips. Tipsters will be eligible to receive a cash reward if they provide information that leads to an arrest or the seizure of illegal drugs.
