Motorcyclist Struck by Carjacking Suspect Succumbs to Injuries
The motorcycle rider who was struck by a carjacking suspect on Chapman Highway on June 4, 2021 has succumbed to his injuries. Berlon Williams, 44 of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away at the UT Medical Center after sustaining significant injuries when he was hit by a vehicle on Chapman Highway near E. Martin Mill Pike. The vehicle was being driven by 39-year-old Jimmy Beaver, who is accused of taking the vehicle at knifepoint at 11th Street and Cumberland Avenue before fleeing the scene.
Beaver was arrested at the scene of the crash and subsequently charged with carjacking, vehicular assault and aggravated robbery. The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
