Traffic Fatality - Chapman Highway at Moody Avenue
UPDATE (February 18, 2:35 p.m.):
The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Robert Webster of Knoxville, Tennessee.
ORIGINAL STORY:
On Monday, February 17 at 10:47 p.m., KPD officers responded to a call of a male pedestrian that had been struck near the intersection of Chapman Highway and Moody Ave.
Based on the preliminary investigation at the scene, a 2013 Nissan Altima was traveling north on Chapman Highway just past the Moody intersection when it struck a pedestrian. The driver of the Altima and witnesses stated that the pedestrian, who was not in a crosswalk, stepped in front of the vehicle when he was struck. The pedestrian was transported to U.T. Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
KPD reconstruction team is in the process of completing the investigation. The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the Altima was not injured.
