At around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 West District patrol officers responded to the alley between Iredell Avenue and Pickett Avenue near Boyd Street, where 29-year-old Kaitlyne Warwick was found deceased from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the face.
Violent Crimes Unit investigators responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. Officers and investigators at the scene were given information by witnesses in the area about a possible male suspect, 38-year-old Robert Atkins, who was located at a residence in the 1200 block of Pickett Avenue and taken into custody.
