6th Annual Doggie Dip Day: Watch Your Pup Swim at Inskip Pool
Online viewers may have noticed last month that Aug. 26 was International Dog Day, prompting social media to be showered with pictures of man’s best friend.
Knoxville, named the “Most Pet Friendly City in the Southeast” by Dog Fancy magazine, celebrates dogs year-round. Private businesses welcome leashed pets; there are four existing public dog parks; the upcoming annual event, Doggie Dip Day, always draws a crowd.
Doggie Dip Day occurs at the end of summer at Inskip Pool, 4204 Bruhin Road. Because the pool will soon be emptied and cleaned, families are invited to bring their dogs to cool off now that the pool is closed to human swim.
Join the fun and mark your calendar for this Sunday, Sept. 10, 1-5 p.m. Make sure your fur baby is up to date on vaccinations, comes on a leash, has a tag, and is on his or her best behavior. Registration forms will be completed upon arrival with a two-dog maximum. To complete a form for Doggie Dip Day, click

It costs $5 for each member of the family (including Fido) to join the party.

If you can’t attend Doggie Dip Day, your furry friend can still enjoy any of Knoxville’s four dog parks:
• Charles Doyle Park, 5100 West Martin Mill Pike in South Knoxville
• Victor Ashe Park, 4901 Bradshaw Rd. in North Knoxville
• Holston River PetSafe Dog Park, 3300 Holston Hills Road in East Knoxville
• PetSafe Downtown Dog Park, 200 S Central St. in Downtown Knoxville
A fifth park is slated to open in 2018 on Howard Baker Jr. Boulevard. All dog parks are open seven days a week, year-round, unless a sign indicates otherwise. Dogs must be leashed unless they are within an official dog park enclosure. Waste stations are on site at all dog parks.
Knoxville will always have something fun for the whole family to enjoy, including man’s best friend. To learn about future events for pets, click
