On Thursday, Aug. 27, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker visited Knoxville and toured the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI), part of the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI).
Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett, along with Gov. Bill Haslam, 3rd District U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann, and several business leaders and industry partners, joined Secretary Pritzker for the tour of the facility and a business roundtable to discuss NNMI’s role in strengthening America’s economy and workforce.
IACMI works to develop lower-cost, higher-speed and more efficient manufacturing and recycling processes and advanced polymer composites for vehicles, wind turbines and compressed gas storage.
