Great to tour the Mill & Mine, 225 W. Depot Ave., on Tuesday afternoon – Knoxville’s newest music and event venue!
The multi-million-dollar facility is a partnership of three longtime downtown visionaries: Developers David Dewhirst and Mark Heinz of Dewhirst Properties and Ashley Capps of AC Entertainment. The Mill & Mine, opening soon, will feature 5,000 square feet of outdoor courtyard that complements a 20,000-square-foot concert hall and event space.
Roughly twice the size of The Standard on Jackson Avenue, the Mill & Mine will be able to seat 500 for dinner or entertain 1,200 fans at a musical performance.
The City leveraged the private investment by providing tax incentives and a $100,000 Commercial Façade grant.
The full project will not be completed until summer, though it will host a series of concerts during the Big Ears Festival, staring on Thursday, March 31.
The Mill & Mine is a great example of doing urban infill the right way – creating an inclusive, inviting public space that links together now-separated neighborhoods while also filling a big empty gap in the downtown map.
