Relocation of Historic Fort Sanders House Will Affect Traffic July 24
The relocation of a historic home from White Avenue to Clinch Avenue will require temporary no-parking zones and rolling road blocks on streets in the Fort Sanders neighborhood on Friday, July 24.

The house is being moved from 1302 White Ave. to 1201 Clinch Ave., on the northwest corner of Clinch and 12th Street, by its new owner, Carl Lansden. Lansden acquired it from the University of Tennessee after UT bought the White Avenue property.

The move is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Friday and is expected to take most of the day. The route for the move is as follows: west on White Avenue to 14th Street; north on 14th to Clinch Avenue; east on Clinch to 12th Street.

Starting Thursday, the City will be designating temporary no-parking zones on blocks along the route, to ensure no cars are in the way of the move on Friday. The Knoxville Police Department will manage traffic along the route for the duration of the move.
