#KnoxvilleJobWellDone: City's Fleet Ranked No. 34 in Nation
Last year, the City ranked No. 61 on the list of the 100 Best Fleets in America, as rated by the National Association of Fleet Administrators. It was Knoxville's first-ever NAFA ranking.
This year, we've risen in the rankings to No. 34.
Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon joined Fleet Services Director Nicholas Bradshaw and dozens of technicians and vehicle service personnel for a small celebration Thursday at the City's Light Shop on Vice Mayor Jack Sharp Road. A banner recognizing the honor was hoisted in the shop's rafters and revealed during the celebration.
"It's always great to join with City employees and help celebrate their innovation, can-do work ethic and dedication," Mayor Kincannon said.
Knoxville's fast-rising national ranking comes during national Public Works Week.
Mayor Kincannon noted that all City departments rely on Fleet Services and trust the expertise of its technicians.
Without them, fire engines and police cruisers wouldn’t remain in tip-top shape, allowing our first responders to so dependably reach people in distress, the Mayor said.
Without Fleet Services, engineers and inspectors and parks staff wouldn’t be able to deliver services so efficiently.
And without Fleet Services, plow trucks and Public Service crews wouldn’t be ready to clear streets and take care of downed trees during winter storms.
Thank you, Fleet Services - you keep us rolling!
