Kid A' Riffic Kicks Off in Market Square
Kid A' Riffic's debut on Market Square was a big success.

Planting seeds

From the amazing weather, to the loud burst of excitement of the children and the parents supporting their children in their games, the community welcomed this new event series produced by the City's Special Events department.

On each Tuesday in July, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Kid A' Riffic presents opportunities for creative play and learning for young people provided by a host of participating organizations:

The Muse Knoxville
Knoxville Arts & Fine Craft Center
YMCA
Home Depot
Knoxville Ice Bears
Knoxville Area Transit (KAT)
The Knoxville Fire Department

These organizations each have tents pitched on Tuesdays to host crafts, activities and games for kids this summer.

KPD

The Knoxville Police Department was present in support of the event donating books as part of their Literacy Program. Officer Anita Watson explained KPD's initiative is to expand the literacy program through this event.

Ice Bears

Knoxville Ice Bears contributed hockey sticks and goals for off-the-rink playtime.

KAT Bus

KAT Bus provided a quiet space to read about public transit and learn about their new Books on Buses program.

Kid A' Riffic

The smiles of City of Knoxville Special Events staff Elaine Frank and Kyndra Brewer are proof of the success of the first-time event and its turnout.

YMCA

YMCA was also present with fun interactive and educational activities for the kids. They described their passion for being around children and bringing awareness that they are also helping the community.

Stay tuned for additional updates on Kid A' Riffic!
