The Knoxville Fire Department has sent a six-member team to aid in the recovery efforts from Hurricane Florence in the Carolinas. The KFD Swiftwater Rescue Team is temporarily based in Columbia, South Carolina, and deployed as needed to hard-hit areas such as Dillan, South Carolina.


  
The team will be in place for another few days as flooding begins to subside. Additional emergency rescue teams from Sevierville and Pigeon Forge have joined in the efforts.
