UPDATE (April 24, 7:56 p.m.)

Shawn Case, 27, has been arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder in the death of Brittney Webb, 32, who was found deceased inside of a residence at the Ridgebrook Apartments on the morning of Friday, April 24. 

After officers responded to the scene just after 7 a.m. on Friday morning, Case initially refused to leave the residence and KPD negotiators were called to the scene. At around 8:50 a.m., he complied, exited the residence and was transported back to Public Safety Building for questioning with investigators. 

Case has been booked into the Knox County Detention Center and is being held on a $1,000,000 bond. The body of the deceased was transported to the Regional Forensic Center for a complete autopsy. The investigation remains ongoing.

Just after 7 a.m. on Friday, April 24, KPD officers received secondhand information that a woman was deceased inside of a residence at Ridgebrook Apartments at 2105 Ridgebrook Lane. Officers responded to the scene and were directed to the apartment. Officers attempted to make contact with the occupants inside the apartment and observed a male subject inside. The subject initially refused to leave and KPD negotiators were called to the scene. At approximately 8:50 a.m., the subject complied, exited the residence and was transported to the Public Safety Building for questioning. Officers then conducted a safety sweep of the residence, where they located a deceased female. KPD Violent Crimes Unit investigators and Crime Lab personnel responded to the scene to begin their investigation. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
