Update - March 8, 2020, 7:45 p.m.  

Desmon Rhea (DOB: 11/26/95) of Knoxville, Tennessee has been taken into custody for the overnight shootings on Division Street and Trousdale Road that resulted in the death of three female victims. Charges are pending. 

Leads developed by investigators with the Knoxville Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit led to Rhea, who was located at a residence on Burbury Lane and taken into custody without incident. 

The investigation is proceeding and no further information is available at this time. 

Original Release

The Knoxville Police Department Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a homicide with three victims that occurred overnight into Sunday, March 8.  

At 4:38 a.m., KPD officers responded to the area of Division Street and Liberty Street for a report of a female who was possibly deceased in the roadway. The adult female victim was located on Division Street approximately 500 feet west of Liberty Street and pronounced deceased at the scene from what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the torso. 

Violent Crimes Unit investigators responded to the scene to begin their investigation. 

The preliminary investigation led investigators to a residence in the 6600 block of Trousdale Road, where two additional adult females were located inside the residence deceased from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. 

There is no suspect information at this time. 

Victim identification will be made pending notification of next of kin. 

The Violent Crimes Unit is in the early stages of its investigation and no further information is available at this time.
