Fatal accident on Western Avenue

On Thursday, February 6 at approximately 2:14 p.m., KPD officers responded to a crash on Western Avenue at Ball Camp Pike involving two vehicles.

The preliminary investigation at the scene determined that a car was traveling west on Western Avenue and hydroplaned, causing it to strike the side of a City of Knoxville Service Department truck, which was traveling east on Western.

One adult male from the car was pronounced deceased at the scene, while two other adult males from the car were transported to the UT Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the City of Knoxville truck were not injured.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
