Key arrested following low-speed pursuit on I-40 East
On Wednesday, January 29 at around 4:15 p.m., KPD officers responded to calls stating that a vehicle was parked in the middle of the road near the Kenjo on Rutledge Pike. Officers responded to the call and made contact with the vehicle, a late 90s model Chevy minivan, around Magnolia Avenue and Milligan Street. Officers observed that the vehicle was swerving and had a flat tire, and attempted to initiate a traffic stop near Cherry Street and I-40 East.

The vehicle fled from officers and started traveling east on I-40 at a slow rate of speed. Officers successfully deployed stop sticks on the vehicle near I-40 East and Rutledge Pike, which flattened all four tires on the vehicle. The vehicle continued to flee until finally coming to a stop on I-640 West just before the Millertown Pike exit.

The suspect, 68-year-old Jimmy Key, was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody without incident. He was charged with Driving Under the Influence and Evading Arrest, and has been booked into the Knox County Detention Center.

For those interested, the report number is 20-003925.
