Gregory arrested for Attempted 1st Degree Murder
On Friday, January 24, 2020 at approximately 8:57 p.m., investigators with the Knoxville Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit responded to the 5500 block of N. Broadway Road in reference to a stabbing. Patrol units had first responded to the scene to find a 31-year-old male victim suffering from multiple wounds to the neck, chest, arms and back. The victim was transported to the UT Medical Center with serious injuries that are not expected to be life-threatening. The suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers on scene.

The preliminary investigation determined that the attack appeared to be the result of a domestic dispute with 57-year-old Mitchell Gregory identified as the assailant. On Monday, January 27, 2020 at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers located and arrested Gregory at his residence. Investigator Jason Booker obtained an Attempted First Degree Murder charge on Gregory, who was also charged with Vandalism, Public Intoxication and Driving While License Suspended.

The investigation remains ongoing.
