Brown arrested for two counts of Attempted 1st Degree Murder
On Saturday, January 25 at approximately 6:22 p.m., KPD officers responded to a stabbing call, where a male victim stated that he was approached and stabbed by a male suspect outside of the Rite Stop Food Mart at 441 Dutch Valley Drive. The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival and was not located after officers canvassed the area. The 60-year-old victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated by EMS for a wound to his stomach area.

At around 6:55 p.m. that same day, KPD responded to another stabbing call from the Sharp Lane Apartments at 411 Sharp Lane. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim with several lacerations to her face and chest. A witness stated that the attack occurred following a domestic dispute, and that the suspect fled the residence following the attack. The 76-year-old victim was transported to the UT Medical Center with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation determined that the same suspect was responsible for both stabbing incidents. On Monday, January 27 at around 4:30 p.m., 27-year-old James Brown was arrested and charged with two counts of Attempted 1st Degree Murder. He is being booked into the Knox County Detention Center.

The Violent Crimes Unit is continuing its investigation and no further information is available at this time.
