Loch & Key Productions Reveals Results of Façade Improvement Funding
When Loch & Key Productions recently celebrated their grand opening at 2411 N. Central Street, they’d already been in the space several months, but to visitors it felt brand new and very different from the original space they started transforming in early 2017.

Loch & Key Productions (which creates video for such clients as HGTV, Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and Covenant Health) is just one of several businesses on North Central Street to take advantage of the Façade Improvement Program.

The City of Knoxville invested $42,672 in Façade Improvement funding, while Loch and Key has invested $420,000 in the renovation project. This combination of public and private funding sources is a recipe for strengthening neighborhoods cooked up in the City's Community Development department.

At the end of the block, Steamboat Sandwiches opened in April 2018. Nearby, Keith Windows at 2501 N. Central completed a renovation about three years ago and still looks fabulous in its coat of bright red paint. Smoky Mountain Vintage Lumber showed off its face lift at 1700 N. Central back in May. These before and after pictures help illustrate how Façade Improvement funding contributes to the beauty and value of our city's commercial corridors.

The Broadway-Central Area is among façade improvement target areas that include the Five Points Redevelopment Area, the Mechanicsville Redevelopment Area, the Burlington Business District, the Jackson Avenue Redevelopment Area, Magnolia Warehouse District and South Waterfront Area. These areas are all undergoing redevelopment projects or plans for future redevelopment.
